About the Role
As a Personal Assistant, you will provide quality administrative and legal support to a multi-disciplinary group of solicitors. You will interact daily with lawyers, claims managers, medical advisors, witnesses, experts, courts and tribunals to support Avant Law in delivering a comprehensive and superior service to members.
We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the drive and determination to deliver consistently high-quality work in a fast-paced legal environment.
This is a 12 month contract based in Sydney, with the opportunity for a permanent role.

Key responsibilities:

Provide quality administrative and legal support to a multi-disciplinary group of solicitors across medical indemnity matters, with a strong focus on civil litigation.
Prepare legal documentation including briefs to counsel and experts, subpoenas, chronologies, and court documents, draft correspondence, liaise with witnesses, experts, courts and tribunals.
Manage solicitor diaries, incoming and outgoing correspondence, filing, and phone queries.
Process accounts payable invoices, monthly billings, and settlement cheque requisitions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with members, claims managers, medical advisers, and external legal contacts.

To be successful:

Completion of at least one year of a law degree (or equivalent)
Minimum one year's experience as a legal secretary or paralegal
Proven legal research capability
Typing speed of 45 wpm or above
Strong legal knowledge and research ability
Excellent written and verbal communication
Intermediate Word, Excel & Outlook proficiency
Outstanding attention to detail and excellent time management
