Full Job Description

Broad exposure across engineering and BI bridging data and business needs
Strong focus on data quality governance and reliable enterprise datasets
Work across modern Azure data stack including Synapse and Data Factory

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join Brandbank and play a key role in designing, building, and optimising scalable enterprise data solutions across our Azure-based analytics environment.

Working within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, you'll help shape how data is structured, accessed, and used across the business- building robust pipelines, developing high-performance data models, and enabling reliable, insight-driven reporting.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about modern data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence, and who enjoys working across both backend data architecture and front-end reporting solutions.

THE ROLE:

Design and implement scalable data models using fact and dimension tables, star schema, and snowflake schema approaches
Build and maintain Azure Synapse Analytics lakehouses, SQL databases, data pipelines, notebooks, and data flows
Develop ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, T-SQL, Python, and PySpark
Integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring accuracy, integrity, and consistency
Create and maintain Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports
Optimise Power BI models and SQL queries for performance and usability
Support enterprise reporting and analytics through semantic and tabular models
Implement best practices in data governance, validation, cleansing, and transformation
Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions
Provide technical guidance and contribute to continuous improvement across Azure data services
On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

3+ years' experience in a Data Engineer (or similar) role
Advanced SQL skills (query development, stored procedures, performance tuning)
Strong experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL Database
Hands-on experience with Spark and PySpark for data transformation
Strong Power BI skills (data modelling, DAX, dashboard development, optimisation)
Solid understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehousing concepts
Experience building and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Proven ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer Associate)
Experience with Dynamics 365 Commerce and Dataverse
Exposure to retail industry data environments
Knowledge of Power Platform and Copilot Studio
