Ernest Henry 2026 Apprenticeship Program Intake

About the role

Ernest Henry Operations is offering exciting apprenticeship opportunities across a range of trades including Fixed Plant Fitters, Boilermakers, Electricians and Diesel Fitters.

These positions form part of a structured four-year apprenticeship program, providing the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III qualification in your chosen trade.

Working within our maintenance teams, you will support day-to-day operations, learning from experienced tradespeople and developing practical skills across a range of equipment and systems.

The program combines on-the-job training with formal study through a registered training provider, allowing you to progressively build your skills, knowledge and confidence as you advance through each stage of your apprenticeship.

This is an opportunity to start your career in the mining industry and develop a long-term trade pathway within a safe, supportive, and high-performing environment.

Key responsibilities for the role include

Assisting tradespeople with maintenance, repairs and installations across site
Supporting breakdown response and fault-finding activities
Learning the safe use of tools, equipment and machinery
Completing tasks aligned to your level of training and competency
Maintaining safe and clean work areas
Participating in structured training and development programs
Completing formal apprenticeship studies and assessments
Following site safety systems and contributing to a strong safety culture

About you

You are motivated, reliable and eager to learn. You are interested in learning a trade and building a long-term career in the mining and resources industry.

You bring a positive attitude, are willing to put in the effort to learn, and enjoy working as part of a team in a hands-on environment.

You understand the importance of safety and are committed to completing the full apprenticeship program.

You will also bring:

Completion of Year 10 with sound English and Maths results
Strong commitment to safety
A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow instructions and work in a structured environment
Basic computer literacy
Ability to work a variety of rosters during your apprenticeship
Current driver’s licence (advantageous)
Pre-apprenticeship or prior trade exposure
