About this opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to play a critical part of an exciting team championing our purpose of transforming smiles and changing lives. This is maternity cover role for 12 months starting 15 August 2026, full-time 5 days a week based onsite in St Leonards, NSW.
You will report directly to the APAC General Counsel based in India with a dotted line to the ANZ Managing Director. You will be the sole legal counsel for ANZ and be part of the local leadership team.
In this role, you will…
- provide support in reviewing marketing proposals and collaterals and educating the marketing team to ensure compliance with local laws (especially Australian Consumer Law and the Unfair Contract Terms Legislation), regulations and codes which apply to medical devices in the field of advertising, promotion and labelling.
- provide legal support to the marketing and product innovation teams in relation to the proposed roll-out of any new products or services.
- draft, review, negotiate or otherwise providing legal support to various types of contracts (including standard form contracts) and commercial transactions arising from the fast-growing business of Align Technology in ANZ.
- prepare and review sales support documents and assisting in developing standard document templates.
- support and drive a culture of compliance by providing regular training and guidance to the ANZ commercial team to ensure legal compliance with respect to contract approval and execution, confidentiality, privacy, Australian Consumer Law, anti-money laundering, modern slavery and any other relevant legislative requirements.
- provide general support to global and/or regional legal teams on privacy, trademark enforcement, brand protection, compliance and competition/anti-trust related issues.
- coordinate with external counsel on various legal matters (transactional and litigation) and provide support to Invisalign Australia’s interactions with government regulators in ANZ (if necessary).
- monitor legislative developments and regulatory changes that are relevant to Invisalign Australia and New Zealand and update legal and commercial teams swiftly and accordingly.
In this role, you’ll need …
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- At a minimum, completion of an LL.B, J.D., or equivalent with top academic credentials from a leading national or international university.
- Australian Law degree and must have been admitted to NSW roll of legal practitioners and hold a current and unrestricted NSW practicing certificate enabling you to practice in-house.
- 10+ years’ work experience with an international and/or leading law firm or equivalent in-house experience with a multinational company, or a combination of the two.
- Substantial experience in Australian Consumer Law, Unfair Contract Terms and Competition Law.
- Experience in the law relating to the advertising of registered medical devices in Australia is preferred but not necessary.
- Substantial experience in drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts, distribution agreements, sales support, other commercial activities and general corporate matters.

- Ability to independently make sound judgments and recommendations on contracts and other commercial issues.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a broad audience including legal, business, sales, marketing and highly specialised technical individuals.
- Flexible and willing to learn sensitivities and issues represented in different legal systems and adapt to a continuously changing legal environment.
- The ability to work effectively in a global matrix organisation across geographic and functional boundaries.
- Self-motivator, quick-learner and team oriented.
- Ability to perform in a very fast-paced, highly customised business environment.
- The ability to multi-task and manage complexity and take a solution focused approach
- A pleasant personality with good interpersonal skills. An energetic, outgoing, self-motivated and team-oriented approach.
