Clerk Grade 3/4, salary ranging from $84,659 to $92,701pa. Plus, employer contribution to superannuation and leave loading.

Your role

The Senior Commissioner Support Officer provides high-level administrative, clerical and secretarial support to the Senior Commissioner, and as required, to other Commissioners of the Land and Environment Court.

What you’ll do

Provide audio typing and word processing support for judgments, decisions, orders, reports, conditions of consent, correspondence and conciliation conference reports, including proofreading to ensure accuracy and quality.
Deliver high-level administrative and secretarial support, including preparing documents, ordering transcripts, developing presentations and liaising with parties on behalf of the Senior Commissioner.
Maintain accurate data in the Court’s case management system, including updating file and exhibit movements, recording case outcomes, preparing judgment coversheets and publishing decisions.
Manage and maintain records relating to post-judgment processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.
Perform court officer duties for short matters, including court mentions, telephone mentions, delivery of reserved judgments and short directions hearings.
Coordinate the Senior Commissioner’s diary, travel arrangements and assist with the preparation of presentations and briefing materials.
Support the management of Commissioners and Acting Commissioners, including coordinating leave requests.
Assist with onboarding and training of new Commissioner Support staff and prepare training materials for Commissioners and Acting Commissioners as required.

The Land and Environment Court of New South Wales is a specialist court with a wide jurisdiction, responsible for interpreting and enforcing environmental and planning laws across NSW. The Court forms part of the Courts and Tribunal Services Division within the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

The Court is a superior court of record established under the Land and Environment Court Act 1979. It hears matters across eight classes of proceedings, spanning both civil and criminal jurisdictions.

The Court is comprised of seven Judges, who hold the same status as Judges of the Supreme Court, along with ten Commissioners and a number of Acting Commissioners, all appointed in line with the requirements of the Act.
