Full Job Description

#Role

Hutchies is looking for a motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our Cairns office in a full‑time, permanent capacity, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality projects across the region.

#Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Lead the full lifecycle of construction projects, planning, delivery, and close‑out, ensuring they are completed, safely on time, on budget, and to Hutchies’ quality expectations
Develop, monitor, and manage project programs, budgets, procurement strategies, and resource allocation to keep projects running smoothly
Build strong relationships and coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain alignment and momentum
Ensure all project activities comply with relevant legislation, building codes, safety requirements, and Hutchies’ internal systems
Proactively identify and manage project risks, variations, delays, and scope changes, implementing practical solutions to keep projects on track
Oversee contract negotiations, subcontractor engagement, and the preparation, review, and administration of all project documentation
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, support site teams, and uphold Hutchies’ standards of safety and workmanship
Prepare and present accurate project reporting, including cost tracking, progress updates, and performance insights, to the Team Leader and broader leadership
Have previous experience in, and can continue to train and mentor Contract Administrators, supporting their growth and development
Can confidently manage multiple projects simultaneously

#Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in the respective field for this role
5 years’ experience in a similar role
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong knowledge of market conditions, construction techniques, and industry standards
Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
Strong relationship building with all relevant stakeholders
A down-to-earth, fun, friendly and professional approach to your work
