As the way Australians shop continues to evolve, our Data and AI Team keep Coles at the forefront of modern retail. We combine data, artificial intelligence, and applied engineering to reimagine how our stores, supply chain, and digital channels operate — creating smarter, more connected, and seamless experiences for our customers and team members.
Operating as a centralised development and enablement function within Coles Technology, the team unites product, engineering, and platform capabilities to deliver the intelligence layer of the enterprise. We serve every part of Coles — from computer vision applications that enhance in-store experiences and reduce loss, to forecasting, optimisation, and decision-support solutions that drive efficiency, accuracy, and agility across our supply chain, retail operations, and corporate functions.

We are currently recruiting a Technical Lead to act as the first point of contact for operational support across AI/ML platforms, ensuring timely issue resolution and high service quality. You will coordinate incident response activities, including triage, escalation, and communication with engineering and vendor teams.
Key responsibilities in the role will entail:

Monitor platform health and performance using observability tools, proactively identifying and addressing anomalies.

Maintain and update support documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to improve operational efficiency.

Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and engineering teams to ensure smooth handover and resolution of complex issues.

Support change management and release processes by validating operational readiness and minimizing risk.

Track and report on support metrics, SLAs, and incident trends to inform continuous improvement.

Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to root cause analysis and remediation planning.

Assist in onboarding new platform components and services into the support ecosystem

5+ years of experience in IT support, platform operations, or incident management roles.

Hands-on experience supporting cloud-based platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Databricks).

Familiarity with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and support workflows.

Exposure to AI/ML platform environments and operational support practices.

Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
Skills and Qualifications

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Proficiency in support tools and observability platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Grafana, Prometheus).

Ability to manage multiple incidents and priorities effectively.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Certifications in ITIL, cloud platforms, or DevOps are desirable.
