Support Practitioner - Townsville

Full time, Award covered, $44-47/hr casual plus allowances.
NFP Salary packaging up to $18,549 p.a., 5 weeks leave.
New role in our Children, Youth & Families team.

Support Practitioner

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people, foster and kinship carers and families?
Do you have experience conducting assessments, providing crisis support, and developing care plans to transform lives across Queensland... read on!

This is a new opportunity for an experienced Support Practitioner to join our Children, Youth & Families team in Townsville area.

What You'll Do

Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of children, young people, and families to identify strengths, needs, and risks.
Individualised Care Planning: Develop and implement tailored care plans in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
Crisis Intervention: Provide timely support during crises to ensure safety and stability.
Advocacy: Advocate for clients to access necessary resources and services.
Skill Development: Facilitate evidence-based parenting programs and workshops.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to coordinate care.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with organisational standards.
Cultural Sensitivity: Ensure services are culturally safe and inclusive, respecting the diverse backgrounds of clients.

What You'll Need

Qualifications: Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Demonstrated experience in child protection, family support, or community services.
Knowledge: Understanding of child protection legislation and out-of-home care frameworks.
Skills: Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Cultural Competence: Ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Essential:

Child Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our robust screening and recruitment processes help ensure we engage the right people to support children and young people. This role will require the following to be obtained before commencing:

Possess a National Police Check,
Working with Children (Blue Card),
Licensed Care Service (Child Protection) or the ability to acquire.
