What you’ll do
Working closely with the Head of Commercial, you will drive end-to-end category management for BIG W, balancing the growth of our private label offerings with national brands. You will be a key player in shaping our market competitiveness, ensuring every product decision aligns with our brand identity and delivers strong financial outcomes.
Shape category strategy: Build and execute the category mission by leveraging deep customer insights and market trends to support the broader BIG W business plan.
Lead sourcing and supplier partnerships: Drive end-to-end sourcing, supplier performance, and robust negotiations across both national brand vendors and our own brand label.
Curate customer-centric ranges: Oversee seasonal range builds and product data management, ensuring all selections are balanced, relevant, and perfectly aligned with our brand identity.
Drive financial performance: Take full accountability for category financial outcomes, managing post-season analysis, stock optimisation, and overall business plan delivery.
Optimise pricing and positioning: Develop and execute regular and promotional pricing and margin strategies while actively monitoring competitor activity to maintain our market edge.
What you’ll bring
You are an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record in category management and a passion for driving growth. With a strategic mindset, strong financial acumen, and a talent for leadership, you are ready to step in and make a significant impact on our product offering and team culture.
A strong background in end-to-end category management, featuring specific, hands-on experience in own brand and private label development.
A track record of leading, mentoring, and empowering high-performing teams to deliver outstanding commercial outcomes.
Proven ability to manage high-profile national brands and successfully navigate sizable, complex retail categories.
Extensive experience as a commercial buyer or category manager successfully trading a large-scale technology portfolio (highly regarded).
A demonstrated history of consistently exceeding financial KPIs, driving sales growth, and maintaining strong profitability.
