The opportunity
Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CSI-IPT CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.
The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.
The role
As part of our Engineering and Sustainment Services group the Electronic Warfare System Engineer is primarily responsible for the prescribed systems engineering activities that will be applied to upgrade packages developed under Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) to be installed on in-service Aegis Combat System-equipped naval platforms within the RAN fleet.
Further, the successful candidate will:

Execute the allocated Systems Engineering activities such as requirements analysis, architecture definition and development of system and subsystem design and integration strategies and plans.

Interact with the Systems Engineering Integration Team and Transverse Engineering disciplines, including but not limited to: Security Assurance, Safety, and Speciality Engineering including ILS for the purposes of achieving design assurance and holistic system compliance.

Contribute to and maintain the Systems Engineering Framework to support CS design activities including assisting with development and refinement of CS, VCRM and design artifacts.

Carry out system engineering assignments requiring a thorough and broad knowledge of a range of standard technologies and their application.

Provide technical support to the relevant engineering domain lead in the execution of the physical integration of subsystems, develop compartment layouts and support development of infrastructure around assigned systems (i.e. maintenance, PHS&T, Installation methods).
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field etc.

Up to 4 years’ experience in engineering experience prior to this role.

Practitioner’s level of experience in the fields of systems engineering (i.e. requirements management, system architecture, systems integration, and/or verification and validation).

Proficiency in using systems engineering software tools and simulation environments (e.g. DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Sound understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.

Familiarity with complex systems (e.g. military systems) or related defence technologies (desirable).

System Engineering in an ASDEFCON context (desirable).
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
