About the role
We have an opportunity for an Application Developer to join our Technology and Communications Services Command. The Application Developer works within a team to develop, implement, maintain and support software, web, and multi-media applications which facilitate business outcomes.

Key accountabilities of the role

Assist in the development of application solutions with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics development and secondary support in .NET technologies, including integration with SQL Server, APIs, and Microsoft web technologies (JavaScript frameworks), in accordance with the software development lifecycle and development frameworks.

Provide ongoing development support and maintenance of applications, primarily within Microsoft Dynamics environments and supported by .NET components, SQL Server databases, and APIs, by troubleshooting, detecting and correcting faults, undertaking small development tasks, and performing technical impact analysis.

Maintain strong technical expertise in Microsoft Dynamics platforms (primary) and .NET technologies (secondary), along with SQL Server, API development/integration, JavaScript, and related Microsoft web technologies, in a fast-changing IT environment.

Ensure that development of IT solutions, particularly within the Dynamics, .NET, SQL Server, and API ecosystems, complies with relevant NSW Police Force information technology policies, procedures, and standards, and take corrective action as required.

Assess, analyse, and resolve user issues in a timely manner, focusing on Dynamics-based applications, supporting .NET services, and underlying database and integration layers.

Develop and prepare technical guidelines and support documentation for Dynamics solutions, associated .NET applications, APIs, and database components

Share a scenario where you leveraged established design patterns within a Microsoft Dynamics environment to achieve strong outcomes in security, scalability, and maintainability. Highlight the specific patterns applied, your rationale for selecting them, and how they influenced the solution design and implementation across Dynamics components (such as plugins, workflows, and model-driven apps), integration layers, and the underlying Dataverse data model.
