Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values, to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building and operating a major mining operation.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland. Learn more about the Eva Copper Mine Project.

While this role forms part of the Eva Copper Alliance, employment will be ongoing with Thiess, with recruitment and employment managed by Thiess.

About the role

Thiess is currently recruiting a Site Engineer for our exciting new Eva Copper Mine Project, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.

This role is being offered as a max-term contract through to October 2027, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!

We strongly encourage locals in Northwest Queensland, including members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate's location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane, with on-site accommodation provided.

Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality plans and designs for our civil works.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

Design civil construction components for both permanent and temporary works.

Liaise with the Construction Manager to improve processes and clarify design requirements.

Ensure civil operations are executed efficiently and cost-effectively.

Perform duties as a Quality Management Representative.

Report daily progress, non-compliance issues, and work delays to the Construction Manager.

Conduct regular inspections of job sites to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Actively monitor the work environment to identify and mitigate hazards.

Assist with quality and safety audits.

Implement technical and safety requirements for the project.

Oversee and monitor daily quality control procedures.

Track daily production and ensure adherence to cost and schedule targets.

Actively contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of work practices.

About you

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

1–2 years of experience in civil construction projects, preferably in a mining environment.

A current, valid Australian driver’s licence.

Possession of a White Card.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.

Excellent organisational and planning skills.

Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate to advanced skills.
