Digital Canberra is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Governance Manager to provide the key leadership within Digital Canberra Initiative Delivery, responsible for driving the effective operation and continuous maturity of project governance functions. Under broad direction, this role leads capacity management and project support services, ensuring the successful delivery of complex, strategic initiatives aligned to organisational priorities. This role is pivotal in driving digital transformation across the ACT Government, working within a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions. You’ll manage small to mid-sized team, ensuring alignment with delivery frameworks and stakeholder expectations. With hybrid working arrangements based in Gungahlin and flexibility to work from customer sites or home, this position offers a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values respect, integrity, and innovation.
We’re looking for a proactive leader with strong project governance and quality assurance expertise in areas such as COTS implementation, ICT infrastructure, software development, or business improvement. Ideal candidates will hold relevant qualifications or certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, AgilePM, ScrumMaster) and demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and analytical skills. As part of the ACT Public Service (ACTPS), Digital Canberra offers some of the best hybrid and flexible working arrangements in Australia. Eligibility/Other requirements: Tertiary level qualifications and/or certification in Project Management are highly desirable. These include one or more of: Diploma of Project Management, PRINCE2 Foundation, PRINCE2 Agile Foundation, Agile Project Management (AgilePM) Foundation, Certified ScrumMaster.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
This position is based at a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
As part of the ACTPS, this role has access to a range of flexible working provisions including hybrid work arrangement primarily based in the Gungahlin office (Winyu House), customer sites, and/or home. The occupant of the role is expected to work in the Gungahlin office a minimum of 2 days per week. ACTPS staff also have access to a range of FlexiSpace office locations across Canberra.
