About Our Team:
At the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) our Senior Social Workers are part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team providing compassionate assessment, support and treatment to infants, children and young people experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges and their families. We adopt a recovery oriented, child-centered approach that assists our clients to establish practical and attainable goals that improves their wellbeing and functioning and engagement in everyday activities (school, family life, relationships, recreation, play).
Our multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals includes psychiatrists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, clinical nurses, Aboriginal mental health workers and lived experience staff. CAMHS offers a comprehensive range of services including mental health assessment and specialist counselling, crisis intervention, advocacy, psychoeducation, case management, family support and liaison with other services. Our work includes developing external stakeholder partnerships with local schools and service providers.
About the Role:
As an experienced Senior Social Worker (Children in Care) you are a compassionate with ability to deliver advanced, evidence-based mental health services to children and adolescents with complex and severe presentations. In this role, you will provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions, including family therapy, individual psychotherapy, group work, and targeted social work strategies, both through outreach and in-reach services.
You will lead complex case management for young people, including those under the care of the Department of Communities, undertaking thorough assessments, engagement, and care planning to support positive clinical and psychosocial outcomes. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will actively contribute to case conferences and treatment planning, while ensuring your clinical practice is informed by outcome measures such as the National Outcomes and Casemix Collection (NOCC).
This role also emphasises collaboration, consultation, and leadership. You will provide expert advice, liaison, and education to internal and external stakeholders to strengthen system-wide responses to child and adolescent mental health needs. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate clinical records and managing workload in line with professional standards, as well as participating in performance development processes. You will also contribute to supervision, mentoring, and teaching within the service, supporting staff and students and driving continuous improvement in practice.

Please note a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers is a requirement for this role.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service.
