## Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Maintenance Planner to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant operations. In this role, you will be responsible for developing robust maintenance planning strategies and coordinating the scheduling and monitoring of all plant equipment maintenance activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive mindset to drive continuous improvement across maintenance functions. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to minimise downtime and support a safe, productive working environment.
## Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance planning strategies to ensure the ongoing reliability and performance of all plant equipment
- Create, manage, and optimise preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, ensuring work is prioritised, resourced, and completed within agreed timeframes
- Co-ordinate and monitor all planned and unplanned maintenance activities across the facility, liaising with relevant trades, contractors, and operational teams
- Prepare and maintain detailed work orders, job plans, and maintenance procedures within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Analyse equipment failure data, maintenance histories, and performance metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements to maintenance strategies
- Collaborate with procurement and stores teams to ensure spare parts, materials, and equipment are available ahead of scheduled maintenance activities
- Support shutdown and outage planning by developing detailed scope documents, resource plans, and schedules to ensure efficient execution
- Monitor and report on key maintenance KPIs, including schedule compliance, backlog management, and equipment availability, providing regular updates to management
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall plant reliability through continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all maintenance planning activities are carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset records, equipment registers, and technical documentation to support effective long-term maintenance planning
- Liaise with engineering and operations teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules and minimise disruption to plant output
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a Maintenance Planner or similar role within a heavy industry, mining, manufacturing, or process plant environment
- Proficiency in using a CMMS platform such as SAP PM, Maximo, or similar systems for work order management and planning
- Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance principles and best practices
- Proven ability to develop and manage maintenance schedules, shutdown plans, and resource allocation strategies
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable plans
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- High level of attention to detail and organisational ability, with capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and its application within a maintenance planning context
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Project, for reporting and scheduling purposes
## Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant post-trade or postgraduate qualifications in Asset Management, Engineering, or Maintenance Management
- Certification or formal training in reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) or similar reliability frameworks
- Experience with shutdown or turnaround planning in a large-scale industrial or resource sector environment
- Familiarity with Australian Standards and regulatory requirements applicable to plant maintenance and engineering
- Project management qualifications or experience supporting capital works and maintenance improvement projects
