Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Westmead within the Department of Cardiology.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months may be considered.
The position will be for a period of 12 months commencing 1 February 2027.
The successful applicant will be required to have completed Cardiology training (FRACP) at the time of commencement of the position, as well as being registered with AHPRA. He/ she will be involved with the performance and reporting of transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress echocardiograms. The individual will perform urgent echocardiograms and report these studies as required. He/ she will assist with performance of intraprocedural imaging for structural interventions. The candidate will also provide assistance with performance of CT coronary angiograms and cardiac MRI.
He/ she may be required to provide inpatient cover on the cardiology wards and also overnight shifts, as required. In this role there is the expectation that they will supervise JMOs, BPTs and Advanced Trainees in Cardiology. The successful candidate will be required to assist with patient screening, consenting for procedures and conduct of outpatient clinics.
Westmead Hospital Cardiology provides the full range of Cardiology services excluding cardiac transplantation. There are busy clinical, imaging, procedural and teaching commitments, as well as great opportunities for cardiovascular research.
The non-invasive cardiac imaging service provides diagnostic imaging with echocardiography, CTCA and cardiac MRI, and supports the busy interventional coronary and structural heart programs and ablation therapies for complex arrhythmias. There is a 24/7 Primary Angioplasty service.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award
