Full Job Description

Hello, Future Playhouse Person!

We're Neurodiverse Playhouse — a Spring Hill therapy space built around a wild idea: that therapy should feel less like work and more like the best part of a kid's week. We're neuroaffirming, play-obsessed, and proudly run by humans who think different brains (and different communicators) are brilliant.

Our space has been designed with kids in mind from the ground up. Inside, you'll find sensory nooks, climbing zones, messy-play stations, and quiet corners for when the world feels like a lot. Outside, we've got nature-play areas, a sandpit, climbing and movement equipment, and plenty of room for big-feelings energy to find somewhere to go. Therapy here happens wherever a child communicates best — not just across a table.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Running 1:1 speech pathology sessions with neurodivergent kids — assessment, goal-setting, and intervention that meets each child where they are
Supporting all forms of communication — verbal, AAC, gestalt language processing, key word sign, you name it
Co-facilitating moments of our small group day therapy program alongside our OT, Exercise Physiologist, and Educator (a dream team combo)
Moving fluidly between our indoor therapy spaces and outdoor play areas depending on what sparks communication that day
Writing reports and progress notes (the not-glamorous bit, but we make it as painless as possible)
Partnering with families so communication wins keep happening at home, school, and everywhere in between
Brainstorming with our multidisciplinary team over coffee (and snacks — there are always snacks)

You'll Fit Right In If You...

Have your Speech Pathology qualification and current SPA (Speech Pathology Australia) membership — Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) or eligible
Light up at the idea of working with neurodivergent kids — autism, ADHD, DLD, apraxia, the full beautiful spectrum
Are deeply on board with neuroaffirming, strengths-based practice (we presume competence and we don't do "fixing" here)
Embrace AAC and total communication as valid, valuable, and exciting — not a last resort
Love a bit of mud, mess, and movement as much as a structured table task
Play well with others — especially OTs, Exercise Physiologists, and Educators
Have (or are happy to get) a Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and First Aid/CPR

Bonus Points For

Experience with gestalt language processing and natural language acquisition
AAC implementation across low-tech and high-tech systems
Knowledge of Hanen, DIR/Floortime, or similar play-based approaches
NDIS reporting know-how
A solid collection of silly voices and/or excellent sound-effects skills
