About the Opportunity
Borderless CS is seeking experienced Business Analysts with strong cybersecurity and Security Operations Centre (SOC) experience to support a major enterprise security transformation program for a leading Australian telecommunications organisation.
This is a long-term contract opportunity where you will play a critical role in delivering strategic cybersecurity initiatives, working closely with security architects, SOC engineering teams, product owners, and executive stakeholders.
You will be responsible for analysing, documenting, and translating complex business and technical requirements into actionable outcomes that support cybersecurity operations, security engineering programs, and enterprise risk management objectives.
The successful candidates will combine strong Business Analysis capabilities with hands-on understanding of cybersecurity technologies, including SIEM, SOAR, Threat Detection, Security Monitoring, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and Security Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity & Security Engineering
- Collaborate with cybersecurity architects and engineering teams to define and document technical requirements.
- Support security initiatives involving:
- SIEM platforms
- SOAR solutions
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Endpoint Security
- Threat Detection and Response
- Security Monitoring and Automation
- Analyse existing security processes, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
- Support risk assessments, business cases, and cybersecurity investment initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise security frameworks, including ISO 27001 and NIST.
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Lead requirements gathering workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Functional Requirements Specifications (FRSs)
- User Stories
- Process Maps
- Use Cases
- Acceptance Criteria
- Maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).
- Translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
Agile Delivery
- Work within Agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
- Facilitate:
- Sprint Planning
- Daily Stand-Ups
- Backlog Grooming
- Sprint Reviews
- Retrospectives
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and delivery teams.
Stakeholder Management
- Facilitate technical and business workshops.
- Engage with stakeholders across:
- Security
- Technology
- Risk
- Legal
- Compliance
- Operations
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Testing & Governance
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Assist with test planning, execution tracking, and defect management.
- Contribute to governance reporting, risk registers, dashboards, and executive reporting.
- Ensure requirements remain traceable throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst within ICT, Cybersecurity, Telecommunications, or Technology environments.
- Proven experience delivering cybersecurity or security engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of Security Operations Centre (SOC) environments.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- SIEM platforms
- SOAR technologies
- Threat Detection and Response
- Security Monitoring
- Cybersecurity Operations
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
- Strong documentation and requirements management capabilities.
- Experience facilitating workshops and managing competing stakeholder priorities.
- Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Skills
- Experience within Telecommunications environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise cybersecurity frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST, Essential Eight, or similar.
- Experience with change management initiatives.
- Experience supporting large-scale security transformation programs.
- Exposure to executive and C-level stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with test planning and UAT coordination.
