The Department is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to deliver expert technical and subject-matter support for the implementation and day-to-day operation of our Google Workspace administration and ChromeOS devices.

About you

Strong expertise supporting enterprise Google Workspace administration and ChromeOS environments.
Demonstrated experience in building API driven automation workflows.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement interactive data visualizations using technologies such as Power BI.
Proven ability to lead complex troubleshooting and escalation activities.
Experience managing technical changes, procedures, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Demonstrated technical knowledge of product lifecycle management, solution development and implementation methods.
Strong customer service experience, focusing on solution delivery and vendor engagement.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

Industry certification in relevant technologies or equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

How to apply

Describe a technical infrastructure service in which you played a lead role in its development and implementation. Outline how you ensured the solution was scalable, resilient and secure to meet business and operational requirements. Explain the key architectural and technical decisions that formed your approach and how risks were mitigated. Detail how you led, mentored or coordinated other technical staff throughout the implementation, including how you allocated responsibilities, maintained delivery momentum and ensured quality outcomes. Explain how the service was transitioned into an ongoing operational state, including service monitoring, documentation, knowledge transfer and the use of automation to enable sustainable, supportable service delivery. (500 Words max.)

Provide an example of a time you led a collaborative response to a service outage or degradation of service. Describe the technical analysis you performed to troubleshoot the root cause and the decision-making process that guided your recovery strategy. How did you manage senior stakeholder expectations and maintain confidence in the public education service during the outage, ensuring engineering teams remained accountable to recovery timelines? Include how you ensured stakeholder accountability, overcame engineering difficulties, and maintained alignment with timeline deliverables. (500 words max.)
