About Queensland Pathways State College:

Queensland Pathways State College is a senior secondary school supporting young people aged 15 to 18 years (minimum Year 10), who have found it challenging to thrive in mainstream schooling. Many of our students have experienced complex life circumstances, such as trauma, mental health challenges, or housing instability, that have interrupted their learning journey.

We deliver a 12-month senior transitions program focused on literacy, numeracy, workplace readiness, and wellbeing. Our goal is to guide every student toward achieving a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and transitioning successfully into further education, training, or employment. We work in close partnership with families, community organisations, and support services to provide wraparound care and personalised pathways.

About the Role:

Advocate, provide counselling and individual support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents in relation to educational, behavioural, career development, post-schooling pathways, mental health and family issues;
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access to and engagement in educational programs.
Identify and help overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing, providing specialist advice and recommendations to key stakeholders;
Provide leadership and specialised support in response to student protection issues, critical incidents and emergencies;
Balance the ethical issues of privacy and confidentiality for each student with the appropriateness of sharing information with others, and maintain a comprehensive and professional record-keeping system that complies with policy and legal requirements of parental and legal access to official records.

About You:

The ideal candidate will be an efficient and effective person familiar with the systems and processes utilised within the Department of Education to support inclusive education, while demonstrating sophisticated and adaptable counselling and interpersonal skills.

The case management model in this context requires the applicant to work closely with staff, parents, students and community groups. This role is split across two campuses (Goodna and Bundamba), meaning the successful applicant will need to be able to manage their time and communication with agility to provide a high level, equitable service across two contexts and within two teams.
