We are seeking a strategic, commercially minded and hands-on Marketing Manager to define and drive the overall marketing strategy, ensuring all activity is aligned to organisational objectives and priorities. This is a full time permanent role to join our Membership & Engagement team.
About the role
The Marketing Manager sits in the centre of how we position ourselves in the market and will help shape marketing direction, drive audience and channel strategy, and translate strategic objectives into clear, actionable plans.
You will also oversee the Marketing team, managing both the day-to-day operations and the broader delivery of all marketing initiatives. A core part of this role will be on building a positive, high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, creativity and accountability – ensuring high-quality outcomes that enhance the Law Society of NSW’s brand and experience.
What you'll be doing
Marketing strategy through to execution
- Drive the planning, development and implementation of the overall marketing strategy aligned to the organisation’s objectives and priorities working with the Head of Strategic Marketing, Brand and Events

Manage the end-to-end delivery of integrated marketing campaigns aligned to the marketing strategy as well as ensuring alignment with adjacent programs (CPD events, member events, commercial partnerships etc.)

Oversee the development and execution of all marketing programs and campaign tactics. Additionally, oversee all content development including messaging, copy and creative direction

Develop and oversee targeted, audience-specific strategies and campaigns, e.g. Government, In-house and Early Career segments, using an integrated mix of social media, digital channels, events, sponsorship, and broader marketing activity to drive engagement and impact

In collaboration with the Head of Strategic Marketing, Brand and Events, Director of Membership and Engagement and other key stakeholders, support key strategic priorities for the organisation, including but not limited to CRM implementation, website transformation and the member value proposition

Differentiate through clear and compelling content marketing initiatives and programs that reflect the Law Society of NSW’s purpose, brand and value proposition

Drive effective execution to strengthen the Law Society’s presence across the profession and the broader community, promoting key functions, services and member benefits while elevating public understanding of our role, such as upholding the rule of law and supporting access to justice

Influence leadership through relationship building; positioning Marketing as a strategic partner for the organisation

Drive the digital marketing strategy, as part of the marketing strategy, including managing the Law Society website, social media channels and email marketing platform (Marketo)

Ensure all Marketing programs are delivered on time, on budget and on brand - and are tracked and measured

Focus on ROI – ensuring data is used for strategic planning, marketing performance measurement and optimisation

Champion the Law Society of NSW’s brand ensuring both verbal and visual expression consistently - aligned with Brand Standards and guidelines
Team leadership and development

Lead, mentor and develop the team, fostering a supportive and accountable culture

Conduct regular performance check-ins and ensure team members are delivering on their goals

Model and promote values-based leadership, professionalism, care, and a commitment to quality

Support and contribute to marketing governance and team upskilling

Create clear roles and responsibilities for direct reports to ensure the operations of the marketing team result in key deliverables and agile workflow. Actively drive projects and ensure team members clearly understand their role in complex projects

Ensure strong working relationships between marketing, brand and events teams – as well as the broader M&E Department
Operational excellence

Identify and implement process improvements to streamline approvals, delivery, minimise risk, and increase consistency

Champion workflow management tool, Asana

Champion attention to detail across all aspects of planning and execution, ensuring all elements are delivered to a high standard

Maintain accurate Marketing budgets, manage approvals, and oversee supplier payments within organisational guidelines
About you
-
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree is required in business or marketing
-
10 years’+ marketing experience, including a minimum of five years developing organisational-wide marketing strategies and leading high performing talent in a commercial, corporate environment (i.e. large professional services firms, banks, legal or consulting firms)

Proven track record of developing and successfully marketing services and evolving market function maturity

Solid strategic judgment and decision making – with ability to evaluate options using data and insight to make informed decisions

Exceptional people skills and leadership attributes required to build, motivate and inspire teams

Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset

Demonstrated experience developing strong peer relationships across complex organisations

Ability to effectively operate and influence senior stakeholders

About the team
The role sits within our Membership and Engagement Department and is responsible for creating a range of content and experiences aimed at engaging members and the broader profession. This team works closely with other teams within the department and the organisation to deliver high quality marketing, creative design and dynamic events to educate, engage and connect our membership and the broader profession.
