Full Job Description

Are you passionate about food and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents? Come and join our team at Rathdowne Place located in Carlton where we are leading the industry in driving our award winning ‘Better Together’ model, raising the quality of living in Aged Care.

We are seeking a Permanent Part-Time Chef to join our team, working 22.5 hours per week across Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (10:00am–6:00pm), with flexibility to occasionally support earlier shifts starting at 6:30am.

The role

As the Chef you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef and Hospitality Teams while preparing resident meals to the highest quality and maintaining the highest hygiene standards.

We are not only focused on providing exceptional care to our residents but to provide a safe, secure, friendly, and supportive environment for our staff members.

What you will be doing

Preparing nutritious meals, snacks, and desserts to the highest standards
Maintaining hygiene standards within the kitchen and adhering to health and safety procedures
Developing relationships with residents and their families, providing companionship at mealtimes, and seeking feedback on menu improvements
Working with a friendly team of Cooks, Kitchen Hands and Food Service Assistants

About you

We are looking for an experienced Chef with the following qualities and skills:

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
A strong customer focus
Experience in a similar role within Aged Care or a commercial kitchen would be advantageous
Knowledge of special dietary requirements/modified meals beneficial
Willing to obtain an NDIS Clearance Check if successful
Fully vaccinated for 2026 Influenza and COVID-19 (1 dose) or willing to obtain one
