A specialist role at the intersection of health, legislation and information governance
Part Time Ongoing position (4 days per week) based at RMH Elizabeth Street

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of Victoria's leading public health services, renowned for excellence, innovation and compassionate care. We are currently seeking an experienced Freedom of Information Officer to join our Medicolegal Services team.

This is a specialist role responsible for the end-to-end assessment and processing of FOI applications across RMH and RMH Mental Health Services, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) and its associated Regulations and Professional Standards. You will review medical records, make decisions on the release of sensitive and confidential information, monitor statutory deadlines and liaise with key external stakeholders including the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC) and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). Working within a collaborative and detail-focused team, you will also provide guidance to FOI clerks and support accurate reporting of FOI activity across the organisation.

About you

Previous experience in Freedom of Information or within a health service environment
High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey clear and concise information
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and work under pressure
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively as a team member
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel
Professional presentation and manner with an ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Commitment to The Melbourne Way – people first, leading with kindness, excellence together

Desirable

Knowledge of medical terminology
Previous experience with iPM and EPIC electronic medical records systems
