The Role
Step out of the dealer workshop and into FIFO, with brands you already know. We’re looking for road transport mechanics with experience on European trucks ready to apply their diagnostic and mechanical skills to a high-performing, compliant fleet of Volvo-based MPUs used on iron ore sites in the Pilbara.
You’ll complete planned and corrective maintenance on Volvo trucks with integrated ammonium nitrate manufacturing tech. We’re not chasing mining veterans—we’re after mechanically tested, process-driven professionals who know how to do it right the first time.
You will also
Carry out planned and corrective maintenance of FM 8x4 Volvo based mobile processing units and auxiliary equipment (MPU Trucks)
maintain all facets of road going heavy vehicles combined with onboard advanced ammonia nitrate manufacturing capabilities.
What you will bring
Your great diagnostic abilities will showcase, being well organised and coming to Dyno Nobel with a collaborative philosophy. You will be a team player and be encouraged to support continuous improvement and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You must be committed to positively contributing to our safe, inclusive and high-performance culture
- Background in European brands – Volvo, Scania, Mercedes, MAN
- Heavy Vehicle trade qualified (auto electrical or dual trade a bonus)
- Exposure to hydraulic/pneumatic circuitry and control systems.
- Diagnostic and fault finding strengths
- Basic computer literacy (CMMS experience a plus)
- Dangerous Goods clearance (or ability to get one)
- HR licence (advantageous but not essential)

The Fimiston Operations (Super Pit) is one of Australia’s largest gold mining operations, located in Kalgoorlie‑Boulder, WA , and operated by Northern Star Resources through Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) .
Dyno Nobel supports blasting and explosives operations at Fimiston, including the maintenance and reliability of Mobile Processing Units (MPUs) in a large‑scale, safety‑critical environment. The site operates 24/7 and offers exposure to structured maintenance systems, strong safety standards and Tier‑1 mining operations.
