The role of Project Quality Coordinator (SMP) will see you supporting the Project Manager in the implementation and continuous improvement of project quality systems and initiatives.
This role will be offered on a 2:1 FIFO roster to Newman, with works including major mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil scopes.
Welding inspection certification (e.g. CSWIP 3.1 or CWI) is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Project Manager in the implementation and continuous improvement of project quality systems and initiatives
- Operating as a self-sufficient quality resource, capable of performing inspections, coordinating MDR collation and approvals, and ensuring QA/QC compliance across both offsite and onsite project activities
- Coordinating and undertaking quality control activities, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), witness and hold points, and formal sign-off processes
- Ensuring Inspection Test Records (ITRs) are progressively completed in strict accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and systemisation matrices
- Assisting in the management of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including identification, documentation, investigation, and close-out in collaboration with the client
- Managing the compilation, review, and submission of Manufacturing Data Records (MDRs) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- Monitoring supplier and subcontractor quality performance, proactively identifying and escalating issues where required
- Maintaining traceability systems and producing accurate and timely quality reports
- Supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of project quality audits
- Assisting with the preparation, review, and approval of project quality documentation and deliverables
- Acting as a key focal point for quality-related matters, effectively liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Collaborating cross-functionally with other departments to ensure alignment on quality objectives and deliverables
- Facilitating the implementation of key project systems and tools, including MCATS, WTS, and Cintellate
- Working closely with project delivery teams to capture Lessons Learned and drive continuous improvement, with key insights fed back to Divisional Quality for broader implementation
- Managing inspection and testing equipment, ensuring calibration, compliance, accurate records, and readiness for use
- Operating effectively in high-pressure environments, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Promoting and embedding a strong, proactive quality culture across all phases of the project lifecycle
- Functionally reporting to Divisional Quality, supporting the achievement of EC divisional quality objectives and targets within the project scope
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in a quality coordination or similar role within construction, mining, or heavy industry environments, with a strong background in Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) scopes
- A working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements
- Welding inspection certification (e.g. CSWIP 3.1 or CWI) – essential
- Coating inspection certification (e.g. NACE Level 1 or 2) – highly desirable
- Internal auditor qualification – advantageous
- Practical site-based experience within operational project environments
- Strong understanding of welding processes and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods
- Exposure to disciplines beyond SMP, including civil and electrical & instrumentation (E&I), will be highly regarded – desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer-focused and stakeholder engagement approach
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively across departments and with clients
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes autonomously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
