About the role
Due to continued growth and upcoming project opportunities, Contract Resources is seeking experienced and motivated Brush Hands (Industrial Coating Assistants) to join our team supporting a Tier 1 Oil & Gas Operator on an onshore FIFO project based out of Perth, WA.
In this field-based role, you will support industrial painting and coating crews with surface preparation, coating application assistance, work area set-up, equipment maintenance, and general project activities across shutdown, maintenance, and project scopes.
Working closely with supervisors, inspectors, and qualified Industrial Painters, you will play a key role in delivering safe and efficient coating outcomes while contributing to a strong safety and team-focused culture on site.
To be considered, you must demonstrate previous experience assisting with industrial coating and surface preparation activities within Oil & Gas, mining, refinery, marine, or heavy industrial environments. This role is ideally suited to candidates with hands-on industrial coating experience who do not yet hold a formal trade qualification but are looking to further develop their skills within the industry.
This role is FIFO from Perth, WA, with a project duration currently forecast through to September, with potential opportunities to transition into other project teams across Australia upon completion.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting Industrial Painters with surface preparation and protective coating application activities across industrial assets
- Supporting abrasive blasting, masking, cleaning, grinding, and coating preparation works as required
- Preparing tools, hoses, spray equipment, and materials for coating activities
- Maintaining work areas, equipment, and tools in a safe and serviceable condition
- Assisting with shutdown, maintenance, and project coating scopes across client facilities
- Performing manual handling and labouring duties in accordance with project requirements
- Supporting crews to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards
- Identifying hazards, defects, or surface issues and escalating concerns to supervisors as required
- Working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project deliverables
- Completing all work in line with HSEQ procedures, site requirements, and client expectations
- Contributing to a positive team culture with a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship
Required Licences & Experience Needed:
- Previous experience working as a Brush Hand, Industrial Coating TA, or similar within Oil & Gas, mining, refinery, marine, or heavy industrial environments (essential)
- Experience assisting with industrial coating application, surface preparation, or abrasive blasting activities
- Exposure to protective coating systems, industrial painting equipment, and coating preparation processes
- Experience working on shutdowns or project scopes within Industrial or Heavy Industry (advantageous)
- Strong commitment to Work Health & Safety and quality standards
- Ability to work effectively within fast-paced shutdown and project environments
- Reliable work ethic with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (within 2 years – essential)
- Gas Test Atmospheres (within 2 years – essential)
- Working at Heights (within 2 years – essential)
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
