Role Purpose + Skills
Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning & Investments, the Finance Business Partner is a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing forward‑looking commercial insight that improves decision making and drives performance. The role partners with assigned business units to translate operational drivers into financial outcomes, strengthen planning and forecasting, and deliver clear recommendations that enhance profitability, efficiency and Member value.
The Finance Business Partner owns the end‑to‑end performance rhythm for their portfolio (monthly results, rolling forecast, annual plan), ensuring reporting is accurate, insightful and action‑oriented. The role also supports business cases and investment decisions, provides scenario and sensitivity analysis, and helps build a stronger performance culture through measurable KPIs, dashboards and continuous improvement.
While contributing to core management accounting processes, the emphasis of the role is on proactive partnering, commercial judgement, and enabling leaders to make better, faster decisions.
Key Accountabilities
Business Partnering & Decision Support
- Act as a trusted finance partner to business leaders, providing clear, commercially focused advice and recommendations.

Support decision making through structured analysis, scenario modelling, and evaluation of trade-offs, risks and opportunities.

Deliver timely ad hoc insights that identify drivers of performance and actions to improve outcomes

Leverage data, systems and automation tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy and accessibility of financial information, enabling self-service insights across the business.

Provide independent commercial challenge and influence key decisions to ensure optimal financial and member outcomes
Planning, Forecasting and Business Performance:
- Lead budgeting and rolling forecast processes, linking operational drivers to financial outcomes.

Develop and maintain driver-based models and planning assumptions.

Provide scenario and sensitivity analysis to support forward planning and risk management.

Lead performance discussions with the business, translating results into clear actions to improve outcomes

Analyse variances, identify key drivers and trends, and provide clear recommendations.

Support KPI development and performance tracking, including dashboards and reporting.

Prepare and review business cases, including cost, benefit and risk analysis.

Partner with the business to assess initiatives, projects and products, ensuring value delivery and ongoing viability.

Capabilities Required
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the business.

Ability to make commercially driven decisions and recommendations and influence business stakeholders in the delivery of insights

Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with ability to think strategically.

Data/automation mindset – experience with Anaplan and Power BI a distinct advantage.
Experience
- 5-10 years' experience within finance, with a strong focus on FP&A, commercial finance or business partnering.

Proven experience supporting business units with budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis.

Experience influencing senior stakeholders and contributing to business decision making.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce or a similar discipline.

CA or CPA qualifications.
