The Role
In this role, you will:
-
Play a key part in improving the safety and amenity of road users and the broader community.
-
Lead and support a number of initiatives in response to ongoing needs, Council policies and plans, stakeholder concerns, and major project development.

Work with the community, stakeholders, and partners to inform technical and engineering work to develop recommendations to senior staff and elected decision makers.
-
Develop and implement innovative traffic and transport strategies that improve network efficiency, reduce congestion, and optimise parking arrangements across the local area, and seek to align with Waverley’s People Movement and Places strategy and other strategic plans.

Advance current priorities including shared bike parking and management schemes, local area traffic management concepts, traffic control device implementation, and line marking plans.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and/or related discipline and extensive relevant experience.

Knowledge of NSW Road Rules and Local Government policies, procedures, and compliance requirements with an understanding of relevant guidelines, standards, regulations and Acts relating to traffic and transport.

Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with the community on policy, transport, and road safety issues.

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and records keeping management packages such as TRIM. Working knowledge of transport design and analytical software, such as CAD, SIDRA, VISSIM and GIS desired.

Excellent written, oral, report writing and presentation skills.

Ability to listen, reason, negotiate effectively and resolve technical problems.

Intermediate project management skills and proven ability to achieve project objectives within set timeframes.

Competent skills in developing questionnaires/surveys, collating the results and analysing statistical data.

Class "C" drivers licence.
