The Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) is a leading provider of high-quality training and education to support more than 140,000 clinical and non-clinical staff, trainers, managers and leaders across the NSW health system.

About the Opportunity
The Clinical Chair is responsible for providing clinical and professional leadership and expert advice for matters relating to the Prevocational Training Accreditation Program. The Clinical Chair is also responsible for leading the Prevocational Accreditation Committee in accordance with its Terms of Reference.

The HETI Prevocational Accreditation Program implements and monitors standards for the training, education and wellbeing of prevocational trainees in their first two postgraduate years (PGY1 and PGY. HETI is accredited by the Australian Medical Council and approved by the Medical Board of Australia as the prevocational training accreditation authority for New South Wales.

HETI is a public health organisation established in 2012 to ensure training and workforce development within the NSW Health Service is of an appropriate standard and meets the operational and service needs of the NSW public health system.

The successful incumbent should not concurrently hold a role which would cause insuperable conflict of interest and prevent the execution of delineated duties.

Selection Criteria

Current specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Recognized as a medical expert in the area of accreditation with relevant understanding of the educational framework for prevocational training in NSW.
Capacity to fulfil the duties of this role within your employment (evidence of approval and support to undertake this position from your employer where appropriate will be required with your application.
Demonstrated ability to impact meaningfully on improving training outcomes including ability to collaborate with and empower others and link improvements to improved health care in the system.
Significant experience and understanding of the NSW Health system as a training environment, including how to achieve openness in training outcomes and resolve difficulties respectfully in this environment.
Proven ability to establish and maintain meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders and achieve high performance of committee members in order to achieve excellent outcomes in training.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal in order to best promote the outcomes of medical training.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other Medical Training programs as well as other HETI programs and to bring special skills /talents which assist in advancing the mission and strategy of HETI.
