About the Role
We are seeking motivated and capable early to mid-career Project Coordinators to support delivery of a nationally significant Defence Estate Works (EW) programs.
Operating within a Program Management Contract Administrator (PMCA) delivery environment, these roles will support the planning, coordination, and execution of sustaining and minor capital works (CAPEX) projects across Defence establishments and operational facilities.
This role is ideally suited to individuals who bring strong technical or hands-on experience and are looking to step into or further develop a career in project management.
You will work alongside experienced project managers, engineers, and Defence infrastructure specialists to deliver projects across facilities, building, civil, and engineering disciplines including refurbishments, upgrades, utilities, and remediation works.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle including planning, procurement, contractor coordination, project delivery, stakeholder engagement, HOTO (handover/takeover), and project closeout activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the coordination and delivery of Defence Estate Works projects across allocated regions and sites
- Assist Project Managers with planning, scheduling, reporting, and delivery coordination
- Coordinate contractors, trades, consultants, and stakeholders across active project sites
- Monitor project progress against scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
- Support procurement and tendering activities including documentation and contractor engagement
- Maintain project documentation, reporting outputs, and governance records
- Support risk, issue, and change management processes
- Assist with on-site delivery coordination in live operational environments
- Contribute to stakeholder engagement across Defence and contractor teams
- Support HOTO, project completion documentation, and closeout activities
- Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and security requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement and structured delivery processes
Skills and Experience
Essential
- 2–5 years’ experience in one or more of the following:-
- Project coordination or project administration
- Construction, trades supervision, or site coordination
- Facilities management or infrastructure delivery
- Exposure to sustaining works, maintenance, or minor CAPEX projects
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Good communication skills and ability to work with trades, contractors, and stakeholders
- Ability to work within structured project delivery environments
- Strong attention to detail and documentation capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach
Highly Desired
- Qualified tradesperson (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) who has progressed into coordination or supervisory roles
- Facilities or maintenance professional with strong technical knowledge of building services or infrastructure
- Experience working in live, operational, or high-compliance environments
Desirable
- Experience in Defence, Government, or regulated environments
- Exposure to contractor coordination, procurement, or project delivery
- Understanding of CAPEX or infrastructure project lifecycles
- Familiarity with PMBOK, PRINCE2, or structured delivery methodologies
- Experience working on-site or within active facilities
- Exposure to PMCA or Commonwealth delivery frameworks
- Familiarity with Defence processes (e.g. ASDEFCON) highly regarded
Qualifications
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Infrastructure, Building, Architecture, or related discipline (desirable but not essential)
- Relevant industry or project management certifications highly regarded
Security Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance (mandatory)
- Australian Citizenship preferred
- Existing Defence security clearance highly regarded

Pay: $80,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
