Join our team as a Field Supervisor within City Water and play a key role in delivering essential services to our community!
This is an opportunity for an experienced water industry professional to lead a capable field team across maintenance and construction activities within our water and wastewater network. You’ll be contributing to services at scale - supporting a network that delivers over 14 billion litres of safe drinking water to more than 65,000 properties and treats over 14 billion litres of wastewater each year. Bringing your technical expertise and leadership skills, you’ll coordinate works, optimise resources, respond to customer needs, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong hands-on industry experience. While a Certificate IV (or similar) is essential, we are open to the right applicant with strong industry experience who is willing to obtain this qualification on the job.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the efficient and timely delivery of maintenance and construction programs across City Water’s network
Supervising, mentoring, and supporting field staff to drive performance, safety, and team collaboration
Coordinating resources, schedules, and activities to ensure smooth project delivery
Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and Council requirements, and proactively managing risks
Assisting with budgets, forecasting, and cost control to achieve value-for-money outcomes
Responding to customer requests and resolving issues in a professional and timely manner
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and team effectiveness
Managing day-to-day administrative requirements to support operational success
Skills and experience:
Extensive experience in water and/or wastewater network maintenance and construction
Certificate IV in Water Operations (or similar) is essential, though we are open to the right applicant with strong industry experience who is willing to obtain this qualification
Proven leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage teams
Strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety and environmental compliance requirements
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a customer-focused mindset
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
Solid administrative and computer skills to support reporting and operational processes

Eligibility:
- You'll hold a current Class C Drivers Licence
- You'll have a Certificate IV Water Industry Operations (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain within 2 years of employment.
- You'll have the ability to obtain and/or hold a Confined Space Entry Certificate
- You'll have the ability to participate in the Network Operations after hours on call roster
- To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
