Job Description
Disability Services/ Mental health support worker in residential care setting

We guide our clients to develop self-awareness and promote individual well-being. Our Practice is committed to providing intensive support, counselling, case management and psychotherapy services to achieve positive outcomes for clients. Our work is person-centered and uses personal interests and normative commitments to increase individuals’ awareness of their core values and assist them to translate this awareness into a concrete intervention plan.

Senami residential facilities including Blyth

Work type

Job responsibilities

Work alongside our clients to support and assist them with all aspects of daily living, community access and social inclusion.
Assist participants with a range of personal activities including hygiene support, medication assistance, domestic assistance, meal planning and cooking as required.
Assistance with co munity access and transport
Promote and assist clients to live an active, healthy and positive lifestyle
Follow all organisational policies and procedures
Any other reasonable duties as required
Provide high quality support according to NDIS and company standards to our clients and ensure that they achieve their full potential.
Undertake relevant administration duties and provide the company with accurate reports such as incident reports, medication charts, injury reports, communication book notes, case notes etc. Ensure that all paperwork and information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner according to company standards.
Follow all reasonable directions from senior staff and model a strong work ethic.
Attend all appropriate trainings and house meetings that are relevant to our client’s care.
Attend to all shifts in a timely manner.

Qualities of a successful applicant

Flexible with availability to work weekends, weekdays, mornings, afternoons and overnight (both active and passive) shifts.
Ability and experience working independently on a 1 on 1 basis with disability clients.
Experience working with clients who have complex mental health needs.
Willingness to work flexible hours is a MUST
Punctual, honest and hard working
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to solve problems and de-escalate crisis situations
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as per SA Health guidelines for the disability sector
Enrolled Nurse background (HIGHLY DESIRED)
Exceptional knowledge in medication management, dietary management. (HIGHLY DESIRED)
Experience in manual handling, mobility assistance and personal care. (HIGHLY DESIRED)

Qualifications and Licenses

Certificate 3, 4 in disability, youth work, community services or a relevant field (essential).
First aid, mental health first aid, MAPA and medication toraining certificates (essential).
Have a current and valid unrestricted driver’s license and reliable access t a vehicle. (essential)
Have a current DCSI, working with children, vulnerable people and NDIS Worker check.
Have a current and valid police clearance.

Certificate III - IV (Preferred)
