What does the job look like?
As a Workplace Relations Advisor, you will be at the forefront of driving our industrial relations strategy across a highly diverse, unionised blue-collar workforce. You will provide specialist advice to management and stakeholders to support operational efficiencies and improvements across the business, while benefiting from significant exposure to unions, tribunals, and courts.
This role is onsite based out of our HQ in Essendon Fields (VIC)
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide tailored workplace relations and policy advice to site managers and leadership teams
- Act as a subject matter expert on employee and industrial relations matters across the organisation, including supporting People & Culture colleagues
- Develop a strong understanding of Fair Work instruments to support operational efficiency and change initiatives
- Lead workplace investigations involving grievances, disputes, misconduct, and policy breaches
- Support and manage the end-to-end enterprise bargaining process
- Prepare submissions and assist with advocacy before the Fair Work Commission and other relevant tribunals or courts
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters to minimise risk and financial exposure
- Contribute to both formal and informal dispute resolution processes
Are you the one?
You are a passionate and experienced Workplace or Industrial Relations professional with a background in complex, fast-paced blue-collar environments such as industrial, mining, manufacturing, or transport/logistics sectors. You bring an investigative mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to consult on a wide range of workplace matters.
The ideal candidate can demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business, or Law
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Workplace/Industrial Relations within blue-collar environments
- Proven experience conducting workplace investigations in line with legislation and internal policies
- Strong understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), discrimination and safety legislation, and broader employment law
- Working knowledge of the Australian enterprise bargaining framework
- Experience preparing materials for court hearings and tribunal matters
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels
- Sound commercial acumen, including labour cost and productivity considerations
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and integrity
