About the Role
Contract Resources is stepping into another massive year, with multiple major projects and shutdowns scheduled across Australia in 2026. Due to continued growth, we are seeking skilled and driven Mechanical Technicians and Trade Assistants to join our high-performing teams on major shutdowns in 2026.
Mechanical Technicians / Mechanical Trade Assistants (TA) play a key role in supporting fitters and other tradespeople with the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in Oil & Gas facilities. This hands-on role helps ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and operating to a high standard.
Our major shutdowns are scheduled from March 2026 through to the end of the year. To be successful in this role, you will be adaptable, proactive, and prepared to support operations wherever required to ensure project success, in addition to meeting the requirements outlined below.
Points of Hire:
Perth (WA), Adelaide (SA), Melbourne (VIC), Sydney (NSW), Canberra (ACT), Brisbane (QLD), Darwin (NT), and Hobart (TAS).
Duties will include but not limited to
- Assisting and supporting Mechanical Tradespeople on various scopes
- Flange Management - Hy-Torque and Tensioning
- Heat Exchanger maintenance services
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and P&IDs
- Dealing with hazardous materials
- Assisting other disciplines with an alternative scope outside of mechanical works
- Ability to work within a team environment while capable of working unsupervised
- Strong problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent Communication skills
- Strong commitment to Work Health and Safety, including participating in safety documentation requirements
Requirements & Experience Needed
- 1-2 years’ experience within the Oil & Gas industry or a related sector
- Ability to work shift work (Day/Night/Weekends)
- Flange Management Training (advantageous)
- Working at Heights certificate (within 2 years - essential)
- Confined Space Entry certificate (within 2 years - essential)
- Gas Test Atmosphere (within 2 years – essential)
- Breathing Apparatus certificate (desirable)
- Current Drivers Licence (highly desirable)
- High Risk Work License (advantageous)
- Construction Induction (White Card)
