Penrith campus with flexible working arrangements.
Salary: $97,693 – $104,713 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity
Western Sydney University Library is seeking a passionate and skilled Assistive Technology Advisor to support our diverse student community. In this role, you will play a key part in equitable access to learning by providing expert guidance on assistive technologies to students and staff.

Working within the Library’s Student Skills & Engagement Team, you will ensure that students with a disability are given the advice and tools they need to succeed in their studies.

You will deliver tailored assistive technology support and contribute to the University’s commitment to widening participation, student success, and inclusive education.

Working closely with Disability Services and Information Technology and Digital Services, you will translate access needs into practical technology solutions that support study and work outcomes.

What Success Looks Like:

Provide personalised consultations to students to identify learning needs and recommend appropriate assistive technologies.
Deliver workshops, training sessions, and online resources to build student capability in using assistive tools.
Support the use of technologies such as screen readers, text-to-speech, speech-to-text, note-taking, and document accessibility tools.
Collaborate with Library colleagues, Disability Services, and academic staff to promote inclusive teaching and accessible learning materials.
Contribute to the design and delivery of Library programs that enhance digital literacy and study skills.
Maintain awareness of emerging assistive technologies, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), and sector best practice.

About You
You are a student-centred professional committed to inclusion and innovation. You will bring:

Demonstrated experience supporting assistive technology in a higher education, disability support, or similar context
Strong knowledge of a range of assistive and adaptive technologies
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical support
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across teams
A clear commitment to equity, diversity, and the success of Western Sydney’s diverse student population
