Senior Project Officer
Learning and Development Unit
Location: Parramatta - Whilst flexible work arrangements are supported, workplace attendance is required as per the workplace presence policy.
Temporary, Full Time Opportunity for up to 12 months
Grade 9/10: $129,464 - $142,665 pa plus superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
In this role you will design and develop learning programs for child protection and out-of-home-care practitioners as part of the Learning and Development unit in the Child Protection Practice Office (CPPO). You will write training and create resources for caseworkers and managers addressing identified and emerging practice learning needs.
This is a great opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic team working with a range of stakeholders to create learning opportunities that support practitioners to do their best work for children, families and communities. As you will be developing online as well as in-person learning, skills in eLearn creation or digital publishing are preferred. Skills is learning delivery are welcomed.
You do not need to have worked for DCJ, but you will bring adult learning knowledge and skills to the role, as well as understanding about the needs of practitioners and families they work with. You will preferably have experience in child protection or human services. You will need strong writing and project management skills, and be able to work autonomously or as part of a team.

What you’ll do
As part of the team, you will:
- analyse learning needs and develop evidence-informed, effective learning strategies.
- design, write and develop learning programs and resources, for face-to-face, virtual and online approaches.
- embed adult learning principles in the development of different learning solutions such as eLearns, workshops, webinars, coaching resources, group supervision sessions, seminars and conferences.
- collaborate with district staff and stakeholders in and outside CPPO, to develop quality learning programs and resources aligned with DCJs strategic objectives.
- plan for the implementation and evaluation of learning programs, in partnership with other teams in and outside CPPO.
- apply project management skills and systems to deliver results.
What we’re looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Adult learning design and development knowledge, skills and experience.
- Learning content creation experience across various media e.g. eLearn publishing.
- Strong writing skills and an ability to communicate effectively to a range of audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders and working autonomously or as part of a team.
- Managing or coordinating projects with multiple deliverables.
- Ability to work under pressure and to timeframes in a high paced work environment.
- An understanding of child protection or human services working environments and practice learning needs.

Other Information
Roles are Sydney based – CPPO will not meet travel to and from work. As per the Award, section 26.1 states: Any authorised official travel and associated expenses, properly and reasonably incurred by a staff member required to perform duty at a location other than their normal headquarters shall be met by the Department.
A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.
