About the Role:
The Mechanical Engineer role supports the delivery of mechanical building services and environmentally responsive engineering solutions across a variety of projects. The successful candidate will contribute to project delivery throughout the building lifecycle, including design coordination, construction support, commissioning, tuning and handover activities.
This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support the coordination, performance and optimisation of building systems, with a focus on end-user comfort, operational efficiency and sustainable project outcomes.

We deliver multidisciplinary building services engineering solutions, including the design and coordination of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire systems, alongside sustainability, commissioning, and auditing services. The company supports projects through feasibility, design, construction, systems testing, handover and operational optimisation to achieve compliant, efficient and high-performing building outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be an ambassador for the company when at meetings, forums, seminars and the like.
- Assist by creating business opportunities through marketing, presentations, the development of relationships, contacts and networking.
- Assist in developing systems and new ideas or technology to help improve working conditions for staff and/ or business efficiency or effectiveness.
- Complete and submit weekly timesheets.
- Contribute to projects acting as engineering/ commissioning support, project manager (PM) or engineering lead (EL), as required and reporting to the Director.
- Complete monthly project reports to clients and the business owners when requested.
- Contribute to scheduling of resourcing to meet client demand, annual leave of employees, and company financial expectations.
- Take responsibility for projects and act as lead with support from management.
- Management of client expectation.
- Engineering Excellence: Deliver design, commissioning and optimization of building services systems for diverse building projects, ensuring they adhere to safety, functionality, and sustainability standards.
- Client Engagement and Project Coordination: Provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive advice to clients. Manage communications and briefings to ensure clarity and alignment with project goals.
- Engineering Software: Employ tools such as REVIT, IES, and HAP for the detailed design and analysis of mechanical systems, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all project specifications.
- Research and Development: Conduct research and feasibility studies to evaluate the viability of proposed projects. Prepare option analysis reports to support decision-making processes.
- Engineering Documentation: Produce best practice, safe, and compliant engineering documents, including reports, design specifications, drawings, and equipment schedules.
- Commissioning Management: Acting as Independent Commissioning Agent (ICA, as defined by GBCA Green Star) or Independent Commissioning Advisor/ Manager for clients.
- Building Tuning: Optimising building systems to deliver performance and enhance energy efficiency.
- Professional Growth: Engage in continuous professional development to remain informed of the latest technologies, industry trends, and practices.
Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline with at least 1 year of experience.
Candidates will ideally demonstrate:
- Knowledge of mechanical building services systems, particularly HVAC, ventilation, indoor environmental quality and thermal comfort principles.
- An understanding of sustainable and low-carbon building design, with an appreciation of whole-building environmental performance.
- Familiarity with building physics and environmental engineering principles, including heating, cooling, ventilation and passive design strategies.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and commissioning requirements to support project delivery.
- Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams, engaging with engineers, architects, contractors and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- An understanding of project delivery across design, construction, commissioning, tuning and post-occupancy phases.
- Familiarity with digital engineering tools such as AutoCAD, IESVE, Revit, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) principles would be advantageous.
- Overseas experience is not necessary but highly desirable in order to compare international industry standards to be able to improve local engineering solutions and techniques.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
