Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Opportunity:
This is a rare opportunity for a senior Neuropsychologist to help shape a statewide forensic youth mental health service. Influence both individual outcomes and broader system reform, working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to shape early intervention responses across Victoria.
Embedded within the broader Community Forensic Youth Mental Health Service, the newly expanded Youth Forensic Assessment, Consultation and Treatment Service (YFACTS) is part of a Victorian Government-funded statewide program delivering an innovative early intervention model for young people at risk of involvement with the Youth Justice system.
YFACTS brings together specialist forensic youth mental health expertise to provide consultation, assessment, care coordination, and targeted intervention. Working in close partnership with key service systems, the model is designed to strengthen responses to vulnerable young people presenting with behaviours of concern and improve long-term outcomes. Positioned within a broader reform agenda across youth justice, education, and child-serving sectors, this role sits at the forefront of system-wide change.

About the Role:
The Senior Neuropsychologist plays a key role within the statewide Youth Forensic Assessment, Consultation and Treatment Service (YFACTS), providing specialist neuropsychological assessment, consultation, formulation, and intervention for young people presenting with complex mental health, neurodevelopmental, cognitive, and behavioural needs. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, the role supports diagnostic clarification and contributes to comprehensive formulations that inform treatment planning, risk management, and system responses.
You will provide expert consultation to services across Victoria, helping build workforce capability and improve outcomes for young people at risk of involvement with the Youth Justice system. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence both individual care and broader system reform, translating complex neuropsychological findings into practical recommendations that support young people, families, carers, and the services working alongside them.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and diagnostic clarification (ASD, ADHD, ID, ABI and related conditions).
- Lead integrated formulations linking cognitive, developmental, trauma and forensic risk factors.
- Provide expert secondary consultation to services across Victoria.
- Translate complex neuropsychological findings into practical, implementable strategies.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary decision-making, care planning and risk management.
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision and workforce development.
- Support statewide capability building and system improvement.
About You:
You are an experienced Senior Neuropsychologist with strong expertise in neuropsychology within complex youth and/or forensic systems.
- Registration as a Psychologist with Neuropsychology endorsement (AHPRA).
- Minimum 5 years experience, Grade 3 Pscyhologist
- Advanced skills in assessment, formulation and risk-informed practice.
- Experience working with neurodevelopmental conditions in complex/high-risk populations.
- Strong capability in consultation, systems work and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to operate autonomously at a senior level while contributing to team leadership.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate and culturally safe care.
