Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, technically skilled, and safety-focused HI-FOG® Marine Installation, Commissioning & Service Technician to join our growing operations team. This role is ideal for an experienced field technician with a strong background in offshore oil and gas, marine systems, and industrial mechanical or hydraulic installations who is looking to advance their career within a specialized fire suppression and safety systems environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, servicing, and repair of HI-FOG® fire suppression systems across offshore platforms, marine vessels, shipyards, ports, FPSOs, drilling facilities, refineries, and land-based oil and gas installations. The position involves significant travel to offshore and remote locations throughout Australia and potentially internationally.
This role requires extensive hands-on experience utilizing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrically operated installation machinery and equipment. The technician must be capable of working independently in demanding environments while maintaining exceptional safety standards and technical accuracy.
Candidates with prior experience in hydraulic pipework installation, marine fire suppression systems, offshore mechanical systems, and confined space or working-at-height operations will be highly regarded.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation Duties
- Install HI-FOG® marine fire suppression systems on offshore vessels, marine facilities, FPSOs, drilling rigs, and land-based industrial sites.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, piping schematics, P&IDs, installation diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Perform mechanical installation of pumps, valves, manifolds, nozzles, hydraulic assemblies, stainless steel tubing, pipework, and support structures.
- Carry out hydraulic pipework fabrication, assembly, routing, mounting, and testing.
- Utilize hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrically powered installation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Install system control panels, instrumentation, pressure monitoring devices, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Conduct alignment, fitment, and mounting of system components in accordance with engineering tolerances and project requirements.
- Coordinate with shipyard personnel, offshore supervisors, project engineers, and client representatives during installation activities.
- Perform structural mounting and bracket fabrication where required.
- Ensure all installation work complies with company procedures, marine regulations, offshore standards, and client specifications.
- Assist with mobilization and demobilization activities for offshore projects.
- Operate elevated work platforms, lifting equipment, torque tools, hydraulic tooling, and pipe installation machinery.
- Ensure all work is completed within project schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Commissioning Responsibilities
- Perform pre-commissioning inspections and system verification checks.
- Conduct flushing, hydrostatic pressure testing, leak testing, and functional testing of high fog systems.
- Verify correct operation of pumps, valves, sensors, alarms, control systems, and suppression components.
- Assist with system startup and commissioning activities on offshore and marine assets.
- Diagnose commissioning faults and rectify installation or operational deficiencies.
- Complete commissioning reports, test documentation, and quality assurance records.
- Interface with client representatives during FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
- Validate system performance against technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Support integration testing with vessel or platform alarm and shutdown systems.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed in accordance with safety and permit-to-work systems.
- Provide technical feedback to engineering and project management teams regarding commissioning outcomes and field improvements.
Service & Maintenance Duties
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and breakdown servicing of HI-FOG® systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults within fire suppression systems.
- Replace defective components including pumps, valves, actuators, sensors, and control devices.
- Perform periodic testing and certification activities in compliance with marine and offshore standards.
- Respond to emergency call-outs and critical equipment failures when required.
- Prepare detailed service reports and maintenance records.
- Identify system improvements and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain service tools, test equipment, and company assets in good working condition.
- Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, and planned maintenance campaigns.
- Conduct onboard vessel servicing and offshore platform maintenance under varying operational conditions.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in workshops, offshore facilities, and project sites.

- Previous experience working on offshore platforms, drilling rigs, marine vessels, FPSOs, shipyards, or refineries.
- Proven installation and commissioning experience involving mechanical or hydraulic systems.
- Experience utilizing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrically powered installation machinery and equipment.
- Experience reading technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices in hazardous industrial environments.
- Exposure to remote work conditions and offshore rosters.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to complete technical documentation and reporting accurately.

Electrical Knowledge
Basic electrical knowledge is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with experience involving:
