About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced Support Worker to provide person-centred support to individuals living with mental health challenges, including participants who may engage in self-harming behaviours. The successful applicant will play an important role in promoting safety, independence, wellbeing, and community participation while maintaining a therapeutic and recovery-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred support in accordance with individual support plans.
- Support participants experiencing mental health challenges, emotional distress, and complex behaviours.
- Respond appropriately to incidents of self-harm or risk of self-harm in line with organisational policies, behaviour support plans, and crisis management procedures.
- Build positive, professional relationships that promote trust, dignity, and respect.
- Assist with daily living activities, community access, appointments, and skill development.
- Maintain accurate case notes, incident reports, and progress reports.
- Promote participant choice, control, and recovery-oriented outcomes.
About You
- Experience in mental health, psychosocial disability or complex support.
- Calm, patient and confident during distress or crisis.
- Respect dignity, choice, control and boundaries.
- Able to follow care, safety and behaviour support plans.
- Communicate clearly with participants, families and teams.
- Reliable, observant and aware of changing risks.
- Support daily living, appointments, routines and community access.
- Work independently and escalate concerns when needed.
- Complete accurate notes, reports and documentation.
- Compassionate, resilient and genuinely participant-focused.
Participant-Specific Requirement
This role is primarily supporting one participant who requires female support workers due to the nature of the support being provided, including personal care, privacy, dignity, participant choice and support within the participant’s home. This requirement applies only to this participant-specific role and is treated as an inherent requirement of the position.

Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with mental health conditions and complex support needs.
- Experience working with individuals who have a history of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or emotional dysregulation.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, person-centred support, and recovery-oriented approaches.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (if applicable).
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Mental Health, Community Services, Disability, or a related field.
- Mental Health First Aid certification.
- Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or behaviour support.
- Experience following Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
