We are looking for a degree qualified, experienced, Architectural Designer to work with our Rowe Group Design, Rowe Group Planning and Proven Project Management divisions. The role requires a specific ability to engage with town planners, architects, developers and urban designers on project design discussions.
The successful candidate will have a desire to work on a variety of exciting urban infill, precinct planning, greenfield master planned community and regional growth projects for both private and public sector clients. The role requires a strong understanding of the greenfields land development process in Western Australia, the staged delivery of master planned communities and how built form considerations influence design within these projects. The role is suited to a candidate with a strong understanding of built form and its application in land subdivision and design through Precinct Structure Plans, Local Development Plans, built form design guidelines and the like.
The role is collaborative, team oriented and Perth-based, with the opportunity for travel to regional WA. It is available on a permanent full-time basis.

Key technical capabilities and responsibilities:
All applicants must establish eligibility for full time working rights within Australia.
- An ability to engage with town planners, architects, developers and urban designers on land development and precinct planning project design discussions.
- Works collaboratively with clients, consultants and other stakeholders to define project design requirements, objectives and performance outcomes.
- Maintains clear up-to-date knowledge of relevant town planning frameworks, including Western Australian R-Codes, State Planning Policies, Local Planning Schemes, and ensures designs comply with applicable Australian Standards and Regulations.
- Delivers project tasks across all stages of design — from schematic design and concept sketches through to Precinct Structure Plan, subdivision, and local development plan documentation, together with 3D modelling in accordance with chargeable and non-chargeable hours targets.
- Conducts site inspections and contextual analysis to assess constraints, opportunities, feasibility and compliance requirements.
- Develops innovative and functional spatial and built form conceptual design solutions that respond to social, environmental and economic considerations, ensuring outcomes are contextually appropriate and market responsive.
- Develops built form and 3D based design concepts and solutions to facilitate client and/or architect engagement and subsequent detailed architect design on built form projects.
- Develops design spatial 2D based design concepts and solutions to facilitate client and/or urban designer engagement on land development and precinct projects.
- Provides design liaison with consultants, architects, engineers and project teams throughout design development and construction phases.
- Integrates sustainability objectives into design outcomes, including climate-responsive principles, material selection, environmental performance and long-term durability.
- Provides design support and guidance to the Rowe Group Planning, Rowe Group Design and Proven Project management Teams.
- Liaises regularly with internal team members, external consultants, project managers and clients to coordinate design deliverables and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Collaborates closely with CAD, Multimedia and Graphic Design teams to produce high-quality urban design documentation, visualisations and presentation material.
- Prepares invoices or provides accurate project and time allocation information to managers to support timely and accurate project billing.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging design trends, housing typologies and industry initiatives.
- Contributes to business development and marketing initiatives, including preparation of capability statements, design collateral and supporting material for submissions and proposals.
- Monitors emerging technologies, software and design systems, making recommendations to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Attends and participates in professional development workshops, training programs and industry events, applying new knowledge to projects and sharing insights with colleagues and urban planning, urban design and/or architecture students.
- Ensures all company-related correspondence and documentation is accurately recorded in the organisation’s electronic Information Management System within appropriate timeframes.
- Completes accurate and comprehensive daily timesheets in accordance with internal reporting requirements.
- Work is carried out in accordance with legislative, industrial and Rowe Group policy and requirements, which includes the areas of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), with an environmental focus.
