We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Technology team in Sydney.
As Stake continues to scale, the platform that powers our products becomes increasingly important. This team exists to build the foundations that allow engineers to move quickly, deploy confidently and operate reliable systems at scale. From cloud infrastructure and developer tooling to observability and automation, their work shapes the experience of every engineering team across the business.
You'll play a critical role in evolving Stake's platform strategy and helping product teams take greater ownership of the services they build. Working closely with engineers across the organisation, you'll design and operate the infrastructure, tooling and deployment workflows that support fast, reliable and secure software delivery.
This is a hands-on role with meaningful technical influence. You'll help define engineering standards, improve platform capabilities and create the systems that enable Stake to scale with confidence. We work hybrid spending 3 days in our beautiful, dog-friendly Sydney office.
Within your first two years, you'll have:
- Built platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to deploy and operate services with greater autonomy, reliability and speed

Evolved Stake's cloud infrastructure into a scalable, resilient and cost-efficient platform capable of supporting continued business growth

Established high-quality deployment workflows that make software releases faster, safer and more predictable

Driven the adoption of Infrastructure as Code, creating reusable patterns and frameworks that improve consistency across environments

Enhanced observability across the platform, giving teams greater visibility into performance, reliability and customer impact

Strengthened Stake's operational maturity through improved incident management, reliability practices and service ownership

Helped define technical standards and architectural approaches that improve security, scalability and maintainability

Elevated engineering capability by mentoring others and fostering a culture of automation, ownership and continuous improvement
- You have deep experience building and operating cloud infrastructure on GCP, AWS or similar cloud platforms

You're highly proficient with Kubernetes and enjoy solving complex infrastructure and platform challenges at scale

You have strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and believe automation is the foundation of operational excellence

You care deeply about developer experience and enjoy building tools and systems that help engineers move faster

You bring strong systems thinking and can balance reliability, scalability, security and cost when making decisions

You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively and enjoy sharing knowledge across teams
- Built or operated platforms centred around GKE and cloud-native technologies

Implemented service mesh architectures in production environments

Led large-scale CI/CD modernisation initiatives or platform transformation programs

Worked with observability platforms such as Datadog, Kong or similar tooling

Supported high-growth fintech, financial services or other highly regulated technology environments
