Play an active role in the leadership of the team and the Division leadership team
Contribute to APRA’s role as prudential regulator of financial institutions
Provide oversight and support to a core element of APRA’s Corporate Plan
Role based out of APRA’s Sydney or Melbourne offices

The role

As the Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs you will drive strategic collaboration with domestic and international peers whilst providing leadership to a high performing team. You will be accountable for setting strategic direction, delivering objectives, developing and coaching your team, maintaining key stakeholder relationships, and making decisions that guide the team’s regulatory engagement and priorities.

The team

APRA’s Regulatory Affairs team sits within the Chief of Staff and Enterprise Services Division alongside APRA’s Corporate Affairs, Strategy and Governance, Finance, People and Culture, and Risk functions.

The team drives collaboration with domestic and international agencies, multilateral representative bodies as well as managing effective interactions with government, industry bodies and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Promote APRA's external relationships with key domestic and international stakeholders through central coordination and relationship-building;
Provide clear direction to drive effective strategy design and delivery while supporting the professional growth of your team;
Coordinate internal stakeholders, monitor developments and brief the executive leadership team to assist APRA navigate and influence the operating environment;
Maintain centralised infrastructure and knowledge management tools to support and enhance APRA interactions with external regulatory partners;
Lead regular consultation and engagement with APRA executives and senior staff to coordinate and strengthen APRA’s external regulatory relationships;
Develop and maintain effective strategies to proactively capture knowledge of external regulatory developments that may affect APRA’s objectives in the foreseeable future; and
Model inclusive leadership behaviours and instilling an open culture within the team and division, where divergent views are shared and respected.

About you

Ability to lead change and deliver strategic outcomes;
Strong leadership and management skills, with an ability to set direction, empower and create an inclusive environment;
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to advise and report to internal and external stakeholders and Boards;
Relationship building, negotiation and influencing capability at senior level. Utilises strong verbal and written communication to influence;
Demonstrated ability to identify strategic issues and develop and implement appropriate solutions;
Recognised and sought out as a thought leader and has the experience to help APRA protect today and prepare for tomorrow; and
Professional qualifications in relevant field or equivalent experience.
