Critical Infrastructure Architect
Grade: 11/12
Salary range: $149,739-$173,174 + superannuation and leave loading
Duration: temporary full time role for up to 12 months
Location: Hybrid with an in-office requirement 2 days a week in Sydney, McKell. This may be subject to change in line with DCS workplace policies
Support the delivery of mission‑critical telecommunications solutions that underpin public safety across NSW.
Contribute to the design and delivery of complex architecture across the PSN Core and DR NOCC programs, working alongside lead architects to support high‑quality, delivery‑ready outcomes.
About the team
This role sits within the Critical Infrastructure Program architecture team in NSW Telco Authority.
The team delivers architecture support across major initiatives including PSN Core relocation and DR NOCC. It works closely with lead architects to design and deliver complex solutions that underpin critical communications services across NSW.
Your responsibilities will include

Supporting development of solution designs across DR NOCC and PSN Core programs

Assisting lead architects in producing architecture artefacts and documentation

Contributing to design reviews and governance processes

Working with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into solution designs

Assisting in identifying risks, dependencies and design considerations across workstreams

Providing technical input into implementation planning and delivery activities

To be successful in this role you will have
Essential Security Clearance: You will be able to obtain and retain minimum Baseline Security clearance within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information

Experience contributing to solution architecture or complex system design

Strong ability to work across multiple stakeholders and technical domains

Solid understanding of architecture principles and design methodologies

Strong communication and documentation skills

Experience supporting large‑scale infrastructure or transformation programs

Exposure to government, telecommunications or critical infrastructure environments

Experience working with architecture governance forums or structured design review processes

Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
