Full Job Description

Legal Assistant / Paralegal – Immediate Start

We are seeking a motivated Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our close-knit team in a full-time capacity. This role provides critical support to our Principal Lawyer and legal team, helping ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality legal services to our valued clients.

The successful candidate will be adaptable, highly organised, eager to learn, and possess excellent communication skills. Immediate availability is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Providing direct support to the Principal Lawyer
Managing calendars, appointments, client meetings, and correspondence
Preparing, drafting, and formatting legal documents and forms under supervision
Assisting with wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, probate and estate administration matters
Maintaining and updating client files, legal databases, and records, including LEAP
Liaising with clients, courts, external parties, and legal professionals
Answering and directing telephone calls and client enquiries
Filing court documents electronically and in person, including follow-up on requisitions
Opening and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures
Undertaking general administrative and office duties to support the practice
Providing assistance to the legal team as required

Skills & Experience

The ideal applicant will possess:

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary or Paralegal
Previous experience within a law firm or legal environment
Proficiency in LEAP legal software, PEXA, and Microsoft Office applications
Strong administrative, organisational, and multitasking abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Positive attitude and strong team-oriented approach
Strong interest in the legal industry and client service excellence
