Over the past 30 years, Jumbo has grown from a single computer to a global digital lottery technology business (ASX: JIN), operating across Australia, the UK, Canada and the USA. We partner with thousands of good causes worldwide and helped raise more than $290 million in FY25 alone.
We build the platforms and products that power lottery and not-for-profit fundraising at scale. It’s a business that is still growing and evolving, which means the people who thrive here are comfortable with ambiguity, think laterally, take real ownership of their work, and adapt well to change.
What will you be doing?
We’re building a Define pipeline within our Engineering function. This capability sits between business stakeholders and engineering teams. The team ensures every piece of work entering engineering is clear, validated, and build-ready. As a Technical Business Analyst, you’ll turn ambiguous business problems into structured, actionable requirements that support high-quality delivery at scale.
You’ll work as part of the Engineering Trio: Technical Business Analyst, Engineering Manager, and Product Designer. Together, you’ll align requirements with technical feasibility and user experience. This role suits someone who asks the right questions, challenges assumptions constructively, and brings clarity and confidence to delivery.
Reports to: Delivery Lead
What success looks like
Engineering consistently receives work that meets the Definition of Ready, with clear requirements, agreed acceptance criteria, and stakeholder alignment before delivery begins
Reduced rework and fewer delivery delays through better upfront problem clarification
Strong stakeholder alignment and formal sign-off on functional requirements before work is handed over for build
Consistent, high-quality documentation that serves as a reliable reference from definition through delivery and supports smoother execution across teams
What makes this role interesting
You’ll help shape a new function, rather than stepping into a fully established process
You’ll improve how clearly work is defined before it reaches engineering, helping reduce rework and avoid delivery delays
You’ll work across business and technical teams, building key relationships
You’ll focus on problem clarity, requirement quality, and delivery readiness, rather than roadmap ownership
Key challenges
The Define pipeline is still being matured, and you’ll be part of evolving it
Introducing discipline without slowing delivery is key
Balancing multiple stakeholders and their different needs
What your day-to-day will look like
Translate stakeholder input and tactical initiatives into structured requirements, user journeys, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation
Ensure work meets the Definition of Ready before it enters the delivery queue, so engineering teams can build with confidence
Maintain a pipeline of build-ready work to support the scheduling of upcoming initiatives
Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to uncover requirements, validate business logic, and identify assumptions
Assess and communicate downstream impacts across operations, support, customer success, and other affected teams
Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders, helping manage alignment and sign-off on functional requirements
Partner with the Engineering Trio, Technical Business Analyst, Engineering Manager, and Product Designer, to shape initiatives with the right balance of function, user experience, and technical feasibility
Work with Engineering Managers to identify constraints early and reflect them in requirement scoping
Collaborate with Product Designers to ensure user journeys and acceptance criteria align with the intended functionality
Contribute to continuous improvement across ways of working, tooling, and documentation standards
What you’ll need to bring to the role
Experience eliciting and validating requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and collaborative discovery sessions
Strong capability in writing clear functional specifications and breaking down ambiguity into actionable requirements
Familiarity with prioritisation frameworks such as MoSCoW (Must have, Should have, Could have, Won’t have) or similar approaches
Solid understanding of the software delivery lifecycle and agile ways of working, including Scrum or Kanban
Experience working within governance models such as Definition of Ready and Definition of Done
Proficiency with backlog and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
A thoughtful, analytical approach with strong attention to detail
The confidence to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, surface edge cases, and raise risks before they impact delivery
A collaborative mindset and the ability to build alignment across business, design, and engineering groups
Salary banding: $120,000 - $132,000 + Super
