STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Cranbrook School is seeking outstanding Strength & Conditioning Coaches to join our small
but dynamic team based at the state-of-the-art Murray Rose Aquatic & Fitness Centre in
Bellevue Hill.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Head of Athletic Performance, the responsibilities of the Strength and
Conditioning Coach include developing and providing age and skill appropriate strength,
conditioning, speed and agility training to students; designing and managing programs for
rehabilitation and return to play from injury and illness; providing match day support to
teams, supporting sports camps; supervision of school gym facilities and use; taking part in
health promotion and wellbeing initiatives for both students and staff; and assisting with
sports science including data collection and analysis.
Casual positions are available, with rostered hours varying across the opening hours of the
Aquatic & Fitness Centre, from Monday to Saturday.
ABOUT YOU
You have experience working with youth athletes, and working in a gym, field and match day
environment. You have the ability to inspire students to achieve goals and to encourage them
in the pursuit of excellence.
Capable of working collaboratively within a team, and possessing an exemplary
understanding of best practice, you have proven expertise and the ability to coach across a
broad age and ability range.
SELECTION CRITERIA
— Tertiary qualification in Human Movement, Exercise, Sports Science, or similar
— Level 2 Strength and Conditioning or Australian Weightlifting Federation Level 2
accreditation
— Previous experience in sports related strength and conditioning programs
— Ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels, with diverse
backgrounds and across a wide range of age groups
— Excellent planning, organisation and communication (written and verbal) skills
— Capacity to create a motivating and engaging environment that caters to the diverse
needs of student athletes
— Genuine passion for strength and conditioning, and research with a particular emphasis
on athlete development for youth athletes
— A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural
incident
— Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and
responsibilities of the role
— Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
— A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
— A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when
engaging with children.
Experience working in a school environment will be highly regarded. Knowledge of VLAD
Technology. GymAware and GPS (STATSports) will be an advantage.
