About the role:

The Senior Project Manager will lead the delivery and implementation of a new digital application replacing manual, paper-based processes used during roadside drug and alcohol intercepts. Based within Road Policing, this role is accountable for end-to-end project delivery.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors, the role provides strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to ensure successful outcomes. The Senior Project Manager will drive project planning, execution, risk management, and reporting, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.

The role combines project management expertise with business analysis, change leadership, and benefits management to deliver measurable and sustainable outcomes. It will lead stakeholder engagement, translate business needs into practical solutions, and oversee rollout activities across the organisation.

The position is also responsible for vendor management, post-implementation evaluation and project closure. Success requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, analytical thinking, and the ability to deliver outcomes in a complex operational environment.

Your duties will include:

Lead the delivery of a complex IT project, by:
- Manage and task 2 x VPS5 Senior Project Officer resources effectively to deliver the project.
- Manage the governance and ongoing management of project documentation, ensuring all artefacts meet organisational standards, support decision-making, and maintain alignment with project objectives and outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional coordination across business units, vendors and technical teams, proactively managing dependencies, risks and interdependencies to ensure shared understanding and timely delivery of requirements and milestones.
- Lead and facilitate governance forums and stakeholder consultation processes, influencing outcomes, resolving complex issues and ensuring alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Lead the identification, tracking and realisation of project benefits, embedding benefits management practices, monitoring performance against targets, and overseeing post-implementation evaluation.

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

Demonstrated ability to work proactively and autonomously, while effectively leading and supporting team members, anticipating risks and future needs to keep project delivery on track.
Experience in stakeholder management with well‑developed relationship‑building skills across diverse operational, technical and senior stakeholder groups.
Experience in leading end-to-end project delivery.
Experience in the planning and implementation of new ICT applications.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills with experience defining measurable outcomes and tracking performance indicators.

Further Information:

One (1) x full-time, fixed term (until 31/12/2027) position available.
This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
