About the role
We are seeking an Attendant Operator to work in our Transfer Station and Yard Maintenance team, which is located at the Boroondara Waste and Recycling Centre operated by the City of Boroondara.
The team is responsible for the receiving, organising and cartage of hard, household, recyclable and organic waste. Our team members enjoy variety of work in a very busy operational work site which is open 7 days a week.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
- The morning is spent cleaning and preparing to receive council’s internal waste trucks and directing our drivers where to park for waste to be unloaded.
- In the afternoon the Transfer Station operates a public service, for the public to deposit their hard waste and recycling materials.
- This involves interacting with the public, traffic management and providing clear directions where to deposit waste such as organic matter, mattresses, tyres, steel, bricks etc.
- Throughout the day all waste is loaded onto trailers for cartage to landfill, sorting centres and mulching sites.
- All the Transfer Station and Yard Maintenance team members are trained in all tasks and are required to work on all duties, ranging from control room operation, various plant operations, yard maintenance and cleaning, assist in after-hours emergencies and vehicle maintenance.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- It is in your nature to be a productive team member and have a high work ethic.
- You will join a small and already cohesive team, and you have excellent interpersonal skills.
- You will use your OHS skills to ensure your work site is secure from hazards and is safe for you, your colleagues and the public, and promptly report hazards.
- You have current Licences for operating Backhoe, Forklift and Front-end Loader.

Additional information
- Your ordinary work week will be Tuesday to Saturday
- Your ordinary hours of work are 42.5 hours a week.
- Your workday is from 7am to 4pm. A 30-minute break is within this time.
- Overtime will be paid only if you work more than 42.5 hours a week.
- The advertised salary is inclusive of all Public Holidays which are worked.
- Public Holidays not worked are Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Years Day and are paid at normal time.
- ‘Make up’ days are prior to or after these 3 Public Holidays and are on a Saturday only. Appropriate overtime will be paid on these 3 days.
- The AFL Grand Final Parade Day is worked and will be paid at the appropriate overtime rates.
