Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Chef to join our professional kitchen team. The role involves overseeing food preparation activities, maintaining high culinary standards, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily food preparation and cooking activities in the kitchen
- Prepare and cook menu items while maintaining high standards of quality, taste, and presentation
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Participate in menu planning and contribute to the development of seasonal or specialty dishes
- Estimate food and labour costs and assist with monitoring kitchen expenditure
- Procure food ingredients and kitchen supplies, manage inventory, and maintain appropriate stock levels
- Implement portion control and efficient ingredient usage to minimise food waste and maintain cost efficiency
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation procedures
- Allocate tasks and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations
- Train and mentor kitchen staff and apprentices to support team development
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations
- Oversee proper food storage, freezing, and preservation procedures
- Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent culinary training.
- At least 1 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards in food preparation and kitchen operations
- Good knowledge of food safety regulations, kitchen procedures, and inventory management
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in a professional kitchen environment
- Ability to multitask and perform efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
